They say there are hundreds of ways to skin cats.

I say, why not go with the easiest?

When you are trying to maintain focus, and are trying to remain proactive in reaching your goals, there are sometimes so many distractions that keep you from ever getting where you’re headed.

The most dangerous of these is the product of your own mind. Your very own thoughts can take you from efficient and driven, to “let’s check what’s in the fridge,” in a matter of seconds.

You must use those motivating and powerful thoughts the best that you can, at every possible moment. The problem is that you aren’t always able to keep those positive thoughts with you. You’re going to have thoughts, every now and then, that totally contradict the ones that motivate you, and depending on the kind of mood you are in at that particular time, you might believe those thoughts even more than the ones you need to succeed, and you might forget why you were even motivated in the first place.

You must give yourself a way to remember why you started in the first place, and why you are going to finish.

To make this happen, all you’ll need is a sharpie and a few index cards.

First, you have to get in the correct frame of mind. If you aren’t feeling like you want to achieve your goal right now, go relax and do something other than work, and come back when you are. You must be able to tap into that thought pattern that gives you those necessary ideas and focus that really drive you and get you excited about accomplishing what it is you have to.

When you’re ready, get your sharpie and index cards nearby, and close your eyes (not yet) and start thinking about the real reasons that you have your own particular desired outcome. Be very detailed. The more specific the reason, the better.

If you just can not seem to get down to the core of your motivation, ask yourself why. That should help you come up with the real reason.

You will find that motivation soon.

Once you’ve got it, jot it down on the index card, in large letters. Be sure you’ll be able to read this from wherever you are in the room.

When you finish that, put the card somewhere that you will look very often, so the card can act as a constant reminder. It will help ignite your motivation when you need it, and will help you to stay focused and driven.

When that’s done with, repeat the process until you almost have too many. There are going to be times that one motivator does not work as well as you hoped, but another one will push you.

If you are worried about the way they look, keep them in a picture frame. It’ll be a little more pleasing, and you might even take the idea more seriously.

This simple act can mean the difference between your success as an online business owner, or your failure.
